63 stepside project New-OldSchool

So just to give ya guys how this truck came to be: my girlfriend told me she wanted another vehicle to we can haul all of our gear around (scuba, skydive, etc.). I, owning a 2001 Boxster S and a 70 K5 with a 350, and her owning a 2013 Audi A5 (which is worth more than both of them, and currently hauling the gear) I had to agree. I hopped on the ol craigslist to see if maybe I could grab a 90 Cherokee for cheap, or maybe an s10.... When I saw this..... It was love at first sight. One owner, all original farm truck with 73,500 original miles. I went the next day with cash in hand and paid the gentleman a whole $2800 which, I'm sure went straight to his wife who was the motivation to sell her in the first place. So now I have her to turn into a reliable daily driver. She's getting a new bed, new paint, body work, etc.. But as much as I want to keep this beauty completely original, I know I have to trade in her ol 230 straight 6 for a vortec 4.3L FI with auto trans to make her do what I need her to do. And so it starts:
I introduce ya'll fine gentlemen to Stephanie. My '63 Stepside C-10.

Welcome to the forum. That looks to be a very clean truck to start with. I'll be interested in watching what you do to her. Good luck.

Thanks pdxhall. I can only upload a pic at a time, but I have several to post. I changed the fluids and plugs, and she ran like a champ for a few days until she got a gas tank leak.

Simply put...Nice!
You have landed a great starting point!!!
I hate to say it, but from the sounds of what you two are familiar with driving, you need something like this...LOL!
I am just totally kidding!!!
It looks like you have a great SOLID start for whatever you plan!
Proof shows, that a bit of cash and some time can make anything happen.
(I am clearly not done yet, but close)
Good luck on your endeavors!

Thanks brotha! That's a sweet ride! I'd agree with ya except I'm a stepside kinda guy. And my Porsche gets driven hard and put away wet! Honestly, this ol lady is more of my style.

We'll see about that...LOL!
I drive a BMW 540i with a bunch of M-series additions, and I drive it hard!
...But you gotta love the creature comforts also!
Give this project hell!

Re: 63 stepside project New-OldSchool

I really appreciate it guys! I've been working hard this past week after the gas tank sprung a leak on our sunday drive. Living in an apt. complex, the neighbors hate anything that isn't close to their 2014 Eco-Friendly compacts. I even got an awesome note on my window telling me to 'move this pile of sh*t'. So I grabbed a brand new tank from LMC (along with new SS bed rails and hardware while I was at it) and got her in yesterday. I'm about to leave to put an offer in on a small house with a garage that is almost as big, so wish me luck! I'll post some pictures and updates soon.

Re: 63 stepside project New-OldSchool

Thanks for the encouragement guys. After watchin fast n loud's build on their 65 it really made me consider some things. Most importantly the wheels and paint.
However, I won't be doing any work on her for the next month as my garage is too small to do real work the right way. So, I bought a small house with a huge garage (another project, about 700 sqft.). But, it'll give me the room I want to be able to take her all apart, and be able to work on my 70 K5 as well. I plan on putting roll-on flooring, and insulating the garage, as well as hooking up 220v for my welder (still in the box after a year) and adding a cadet heater for temperature control.
I'll keep ya'll posted.
