1979 Royal Knight

I have never started a thread here so here we go. The wife and I decided we had to many car and that we needed to thin the herd. I knew that the El Camino was a SS but that was all I knew. After doing some research the old decal location could be seen from the bad sanding job that the PO had done and the decal location was not where the SS decals would have been. The search was on for the build sheet low and behold I found it in the passenger side door panel. It was at this time we decided not to sell the car but do a resto-mod as it did not have a number matching motor and the PO had put a sun roof in it.

Re: 1979 Royal Knight

I have had this car for over 20 years and know that it had no bondo in it as I was the 3rd owner. This is a very straight car.
Here we are sanding and blocking.

Car turned out great! Looking at the first pics, you would never guess it was a Royal Knight.

Re: 1979 Royal Knight

I've got an express down window harness option that'd be killer on that RK! Does it have power windows and locks? Whatever you need (IF you even need anything-very clean car!) for repro harnesses I've got! Is that the factory color too? Its cool because its not a common color anymore to see!

Re: 1979 Royal Knight

I'd forgotten about the RK badges. I'm pretty sure that's a factory package but don't recall what it meant options-wise. Cool car.

Re: 1979 Royal Knight

I got side tracked with a kitchen remodel for the wife but I'm back to the Knight now.

Pic#1= I got the carpet in.

Pic#2= I got the seat tracks working good and shot some semigloss on them.

Pic#3= Seat covers, I just went to the local feed store and got some hog rings and pliers.

Re: 1979 Royal Knight

I started on the worst of the seats. What I will do is a old trick of moving the foam from the drivers side to the passenger side.

Re: 1979 Royal Knight

Once I got the foam all worked out I started attaching the covers.
I keep The inside stitch lines strait as I work my way to the rear of the seat.
