McLean's Auto Wreckers
Hi All,
Last weekend I went for a 3 hour stroll thru an old wrecking yard near Rockwood, Ontario. I had a tough time finding it as there aren't any signs posted, and only old semi trailers are visible from the road. There's approximately 30 acres of old iron, mainly from the 50s to 70s. I'm guessing that I saw over twenty 60-66 trucks and suburbans, but sadly, there isn't much left that is useable. Its owned and run by a couple brothers in their 70s. I don't think they do much business, but their place has become a mecca for photography clubs and students. There's over 1500 pics taken at McLean's, posted here: https://www.flickr.com/groups/mcleansautowreckers/ and click on "photos". I did find one truck with a big back window. I returned yesterday (in the fresh snow!) with a generator and angle grinder and cut the roof off. If anyone is interested in checking it out, the address is: 12584 Fourth Line Nassagaweya Rockwood ON N0B2K0 |

Re: McLean's Auto Wreckers
FYI, I found Google Maps to be a little off...
If you copy and paste the following address into Google Maps, it should put you right at the end of the laneway in the satellite image. 12534 Fourth Line Nassagaweya, Campbellville, ON If you look closely, there's a couple smaller fields of cars to the south west... mostly 70s-80s stuff. Re: McLean's Auto Wreckers
Can you get me a template of the right door mirror on the Green panel please? I want to put stock mirrors on my 65 Sub, and need the template to mount it in the right place. Thanks a million!

I have been there, actually plan to back in the winter with my Nikon for some artistic shots. Want to frame up something special for my basement. If I were to move my bed this saturday and set it on my frame, would you be around to lend a hand? Craigerrr

Re: McLean's Auto Wreckers
I so love the old yards that have not crushed it all. There is one like this near me in south east Nebraska, also ran by an older gentleman. I could spend days there even if I don't need anything. My honey hole has at least three big window cabs. Yes much has been taken off these trucks over the last 40 or so years but if you are willing to put in the time there are still parts to be found.
