anyone do 70s chevy van tilt column swap?
I'm torn between fixing my 66 GMC truck turn signal switch with one I found in salvage or put in tilt column out of 77chevy van. Any advice , links or suggestions? Thanks in advance

Re: anyone do 70s chevy van tilt column swap?
I just did a van tilt column swap. I had some troubles but overall it was pretty painless. The tilt looks good in there. Fairly natural looking actually. Made for some more leg room.
I was changing it from an s10 column the PO installed. I don't know, may have kept the original if I'd had one. I don't know...that's my $0.02 |

Did one in my 65. Same color code wiring and if you dont want to de pin the connector , they sell an adapter. I shoved the bowl against the dash for tons of room and added a captain fab powersteering bracket, 2x 71 box and a pump the same day I did the column. Will do it again on the next truck.

I did one out of a motor home, it was fairly painless. The wiring is the same, plugged right in. Have to deal with the neutral safety switch, which you can do easily, just do a search for it, and there are some great thread on it, I think it's in the FAQs as well. I did like Newfisher and pushed it as far forward as possible for more room, amazing what a few inches will do. Also used Captainfab's adapter for power steering, great product.
