Re: Dollar short and a day late...sigh

Have you considered looking at new units that are designed to look like the old ones, but allow mp3/ipod and cd players? They are about the same price I think.

. . . .

They are NOT the same price . . .

. . . but I'm very pleased with the one I bought like this one a few years ago - mine was $585 in October 2010.

Re: Dollar short and a day late...sigh

Definitely don't buy Custom Autosound. I have one in the dash that is now just a dummy to make the dash look ok. Used it for probably 5 hours total before it died.

Thanks for posting this radio Steve. Where are the RCA jacks located on the radio ? I just bought pretty original truck and I think this setup will satisfy my needs as i do not want to cut the dash for aDIN radio. Who sells it?

If it makes you feel any better I just found out that the pair of NOS rockers that I paid $10 for were lost by the seller on eBay and I never got them

Re: Dollar short and a day late...sigh

Look up Gary Tayman radio conversions. He takes stock am radios and converts them to am/fm radio with all new radio parts and guts and has iPod connection, Bluetooth, and it keeps the original am faceplate and all the original buttons and knobs and they work as original. He does am/fm radios too. I had a retro sound for 5 years and really didn't like it at all so I sent my am radio out and had it converted and I am amazed at how nice it is and how good the sound is and it's cheaper than evereybody else at only $385 or so.

Re: Dollar short and a day late...sigh

Thanks for the info on Gary Tayman. I am probably going to send him my stock radio after the holidays to be re-done.

I bought the Custom Autosound one and had to manufacture special spacers just to get it to fit into the dash fairly correctly.

Still don't like it & I would rather have the stock radio fit back into it.

Here is the link to the web site if anyone wants it. http://garytayman.com/

Re: Dollar short and a day late...sigh

I've had a couple radios converted to AM/FM's over the years. You may as well buy a CAS.

I would have got them if the seller didn't screw up and forgot he sold them at a swap meet. Got a NOS inner grill for a 70 in the GM box for $10 and a NOS chrome front bumper for $100 from the same guy.
