87 blazer tank crossmember reinforcement
Guys
Im putting a efi 87 blazer tank under my 71 longbed. I have relocated the rear crossmember to the rear of the frame to make room for the tank. I have the holes drilled in the crossmembers for the straps. Do you guys reinforce the crossmembers where the straps bolt holes pass through? 175 of gas and tank hanging on those crossmembers makes me a little nervous, and i thought about tacking in some 6" long quarter inch plate as a backer on the crossmember, but wanted to know what you guys did... thanks |

Re: 87 blazer tank crossmember reinforcement
should help to stiffen it, i used a 90 wrangler tank and it bolts to the crossmembers without straps

Basically what I'm saying is that you'd only have to make mounts for the skid plate and clearance for the top of the tank. The straps mount the tank to the skid plate and the skid bolts the whole thing to the frame of the jeep. Would be pretty easy to do just by the way I've eyeballed it.
