Put the bed floor in. We will see how it holds up.

Brand new to the site, but I just changed out springs and added door graphics to my 68 this weekend.

Added hub cap and a bow tie to the hub cap.
It took longer than expected.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Should be plenty of C50's in Kansas! Just cut the frame behind the cab and add a Topkick rear frame and shorten a 10lug front axle drop it in. And you'll be driving one!
Brake lines are next for me then paint. Thanks!

This 'N That
I've been on the road , three State Road Trip , Pops Memorial .
It snowed in Bellingham , Wa. and rained most of the way back to l.A. , I was surely wishing my '69 C/10 was under my butt instead of that old Mercedes S Klasse Sedan . oh well , soon enough I hope . The power brake booster thing : it's a HUGE improvement and cheap to do ~ unless you're towing on a regular basis , you don't need to $pend the $ on disc brakes , yes they're very cool and moderns blah blah blah but m,any here are not wealthy , just go order up a power brake booster and master cylinder for your year of truck and install it ~ you'll be amazed at how well your old drum braked rig now stops and no , drum brakes don't fade after three stops unless the brake drums are paper thin from being turned (Machined) too many times , another thing you're not supposed to do but is easy money so shops always do it and YOU suffer in the long run . New brake drums are cheap , I have no troubles finding them in junk yards , good ones . The seat heaters *must* be run through a relay because the switch contacts on the seat belts are not designed to carry that much current load and they're burn out or worse , get hot and melt things if you run the heater power through them . The C50 Pickup is bad@$$ ! . I wonder what color you're going to paint it , looks like you began with good metal , I'm in awe of your skillset .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I agree on the disc v. drum issue. Why would GM design a vehicle that would not stop properly??? Added PB to my 68 shorty and it stops just as I'd like it to.

Just a little rust repair!
Sure do wish these patches fit a bit better.

Did a temp primer/paint job on another rusty wheel off the truck. 2 down, 3 to go.

Used the '67 to pick up a Christmas tree! V-6 had no problems hauling it home.

Good to hear trucks being used for hauling stuff for the family!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Had a Great Day, had my nasty old bed media blasted, then Tim spray urethane primed it. The majority of my truck is original paint with some spray bombed areas but, as you can see from the Before and After shots, the bed was just too nasty in comparison to the rest of the truck now for my taste.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Finally got around and installed a Holley Projection 2d that I picked up from Craigslist a while back. I am so glad that I did. I was getting tired of the old Rochester that had a broken choke, constantly thirsty for gas, would dies at the red light, and over all piece of #$%$#^ technology.
The installation was not that bad. I did buy a O2 sensor to make it into a close loop. Holley is definitely making a killing at the throttle brackets and all the accessories to go with the installation. Had to buy all new bracket to get the geometry right for the 700r4 cable. Video of the first start after installation below. http://vid123.photobucket.com/albums...pszyrdbwhf.mp4 Last edited by tinsoldier; 12-06-2014 at 04:12 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
My water pump was squeaking and I found it to be leaking as well. Grabbed hold of the fan (engine off of course) and it had a lot of play/wobble. $30.00 for a new W/P at AutoZone. Took me about 2 hours to install it.
