Ground Strap looking Wire connected to hood
Hello:
2003 GMC 2500 HD 8.1 Just noticed a wire with what looks like ground strap at the ends. One end is connect to the firewall just like the large visible ground strap that goes down either to the block or frame. This one is smaller and covered in the black wire wrap and goes to the hood. I just noticed one end is broken not sure how long it has been broken. Anyone know what this wire is. Thanks |

Re: Ground Strap looking Wire connected to hood
I could be wrong but I am not sure that it does particularly anything except ground the hood to the cab.

Re: Ground Strap looking Wire connected to hood
There is a fiberglass like support inside the black wrap to support it. This ground wire does two things, 1 grounds hood for "radio ground plane" 2 grounds hood to prevent corrosion.
