Anyone in Roanoke, VA
Kind of off topic but I have recently taken a job offer in Roanoke, VA and was wondering what it was like out there. I have looked on the net but prefer first hand info. I am not sure if I will drag my 69 with me or not. How hard is it to get vehicles licensed (sp?)? What kind of restrictions are there to it? Any abnormal fees that I should know about? Thanks for any info.

FOR PLEASURE DRIVING AND TO SHOWS ETC...I JUST REGISTERED MINE THIS ROUTE AND HAVENT HEARD OF ANYBODY GETTING HARRASSED DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK....OPTION NUMBER TWO YOU CAN REGISTER IT AS A REGULAR VEHICLE AND HAVE UNLIMITED DRIVING ACCESS..FOR THIS ITS ABOUT $26 DOLLARS A YEAR TO REGISTER AND YOUR TRUCK HAS TO PASS A ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION WICH COST $10 AND IS A REAL PAIN...THEY CHECK BRAKES, EXHAUST, ETC....DO LIKE I DID , REGISTER AS A ANTIQUE...PM ME IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS AND WELCOME TO VA !!!!

Richard, keep in mind that you can't get on the Navy base without an inspection sticker. That's the only down-fall of having antique plates and no inspection.

I ALREADY GOT THE BASE STICKER !!! I SHOWED THE PASS AND ID OFFICE THE DMV BOOKLET WHERE IT SAYS ANTIQUE VEHICLES ARE NOT REQUIRED INSPECTIONS. THEY GAVE ME NO PROBLEMS. I MET A FEW GUYS WITH A CAMERO AND A MUSTANG AND THEYVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH BASE SECURITY IN THE LAST FEW YEARS. THEY HAVE ANTIQUE PLATES AND USE THEM AS DAILY DRIVERS !! I STILL HAVE THE 04 CORROLLA AND THE 97 CIVIC SO THE 72 DEFINETLY WONT BE A DAILY DRIVER.

Welcome to Roanoke, The Star City
Like Richard stated, you will have to pass the inspection process; You will love the Roanoke Valley right in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains Tim
