heads
Depends on the casting number. Some were alot better than others. For example, I think the 375HP 396 came with rectangular port heads. The 325HP came with ovals.

396 / 375 Head
I had a guy tell me that there is a half moon on the front middle of 396/ 375 head on my 68 camaro. This was a way to tell without pulling off the valve cover. I tried to attach this picture and it didn't take. I will try again if it doesn't appear email me and I will send it to you. These are rectangular port heads.
