Re: Just found a 1967 swb survivor!

Here's the latest. I got the engine back from the machine shop and they said the the exhaust valves were worn out. Valve job done on the head. I started the rebuild yesterday afternoon and finished it up today. Painted, detailed and ready to drop back in!

Re: Just found a 1967 swb survivor!

HEI is nice, but if you want a stock look check to see if Petronix makes a 6-cyl module (or they may be the same as 8 anyway). Then you can keep your stock distributor and gain multiple spark discharge, I think capacitive discharge, rev limiter, all of the stuff you'd expect in a full ignition box but inside your stock cap.

Love mine. I'd get an Ignitor II rather than an Ignitor III because the latter (which is what I have) seems incompatible with some factory tachs, though it's hit or miss it seems.

Nice motor! A lot of people would have put in hardened seats so you don't have re-do them in 100,000 miles again, but that feels like false economy to me.

Re: Just found a 1967 swb survivor!

Nice truck. Great find. I love it when someone finds an unmolested truck like this. One of mine, I'm the second owner with all documentation to prove the original milage of 22K, unmolested truck.

Not may unmolested ones out there with the original drive trains. Glad ya keep the 6.

Thumbs up Re: Just found a 1967 swb survivor!

Looking good Joshua ! .

Thanx for the painted engine photo ~ I'm just now painting my 250 .

Please keep the up dates coming .

Of you go Pertronix Ignitor (a *very* wise move) be SURE to read the instructions and test the coil for the proper resistance , failure to do this simple thing is the ONLY reason you'll ever hear of a Pertronix failure .

Re: Just found a 1967 swb survivor!

He's still trying to figure out if the existing exhaust pipe is too big. Check it out when it was on the trailer in his first post. Massive tailpipe.

The tailgate was left down to make the short bed long enough

I saw this thread and thought, "He found another one?", then saw the original date. I saw this one last summer and it looked the same as it does here. I don't think it needed anything, other than a prettier tailgate.
