Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Made some progress today.

Finally mounted my cover. Bought some hinges and flipped them around backwards where they were all the way open then mounted them

Then the board was barely hitting the tank and the valve so I had to build a lip to raise it up

At this point I locked my keys in the trunk slowing me down some. Got them out tho!

Wrapping the cover

Installed

The back door panels were falling apart at the bottom and the PO had taped them. I had a few scraps and decided to fix them up some. I only have enough to do the back to doors unfortunately

I used so foam board, blanket, and good tape to do this.

Not the best but better then tape and for free I will take.

I also removed the radiator since I have a new one on the way. I also started installing some mech gauges in the glove box. I just got some more parts in today so more progress tomorrow. Im pooped and ready for a beer!

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

compressors mounted.

plumbed into the tank

mech gauges in the glove box. Temp mount for now.

new yoke.

new radiator installed

Ran and hooked up the power glide cooler lines and they worked good. A few bends and they went right in

I did have some set backs. I need the transmission tail shaft 3/4 in lower so I need to rework/redo the crossmember woohoo.

On a plus side I cranked her up tonight and I barely even touched the key and she fired right up.

Looks great man!

If I can offer some advice though... Don't run that flex fan, problems waiting to happen. Good old fashion clutch fan is the way to go.

Ya I know the PO put that on there. I dont like them. That being said I had one on my 4.3 luv that came with the motor and no shroud but a good aluminum radiator and that thing could barely hit 180 on a hot day. I agree tho. And it looks tacky.

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Over the past few days ive been getting abunch of small stuff addressed but here is some of the things thats been going on with Birdie Sue.

I went to measure tfor having the drive shaft shortened and realized the tail shaft was too high. Thanks to my crossmember I made. OOPS. About 3/4in too high. I took the factory one and sectioned it back and then drilled a hole for the mount. Next I had to cut the front at about 45s to clear the pan. Its tacked up and works like I need next I will brace it and what not.

Last night I finished putting vavles in and checking for leaks. Im going to turn the other 2 release valves upside down as well. Im not to worried about what it looks like under here as in I want function. I dont care which way the valves face really as long as I get the lines going where they need to go and no leaks. Thats what the cover is for is to hide it!

I didnt see any bubbles after fixing a couple issues and checking for leaks so we will see.

I bought this off ebay to mount my radio under the seat. Its solid and was cheap. Beat building something.

I have to say Im impressed with how it sounds it sounds badass! And my fav part is the radio and all 6 speakers are hidden. I took my driveshaft to have it shortened and the rear be able to telescope.

Im having jaw surgery later today so I will be down for a few. Later guys

Don't you dare even think about not posting. Lots of silent onlookers here, so yea, keep posting. Certain cars keep me coming back to alternate tinkering a and this is one of them, it's not just the rides I also love the threads that make good progress.

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Finally got the correct alternator belt I needed. The new valve covers only aloud like an inch of adjustment so finding the perfect ones been fun

driveshaft back from the shop. Had the front shortened and the rear made to telescope. messed up one u joint assembling so have to re tackle that. aloud me to tape and flat black though.

\

all wires and connectors done. sensors all done and left side airlines installed. Looks like I wasn't paying attention when I put the relays in because they are right in the way where the passenger side lines need to come through,

Ran some of this plastic tubing over my DOT line to protect it.

Getting closer. Weld up the trans crossmember. Install driveshaft. and hook up the 2 airlines and I should be ready to check fluids and go for a little test drive.

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Got the drive shaft assembled and installed. Front shaft is shortened. cpp bearing. Rear shaft now telescopes. and all new u joints of course. Shouldnt have any issues here like some people who just bag these cars.

Got all the airlines hooked up and got to lift the car with her own air for the first time! really like the avs 9 switch box. Looks like a couple more compressors and another tank may be in the future.

Started here up and let her warm up. May be a small leak coming from the radiator cant tell yet. Everything else looked good. Backed her up and drove her forward in the shop a handful of times and let her keep warming up. Ran the shifter through the gears and topped off the fluid on the trans. Man does this thing run good. Hit the key and vroom right up. Backed her out of the shop and laid her out outside all under her own power. Big accomplishment. Dont really wanna drive it until its light out.

To do list. Weld and brace trans crossmember. Determine if I have a small leak or if thats just left overs from a huge mess I made first starting the car. I know something on the power steering is leaking. Hook up ps belt and see what part I need to replace on it. I still want a different fan for the car aswell. Thinking I may slap a new water pump on it too.

Getting closer fellas. Tomorrow hopefully I can take her up and down the road and see about adjusting the tv for the 700r4.

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Made the second trans cross member. Dropped the tail shaft like I needed it to.

Took her for a drive. Everything is good except a little clunking I can hear every now and then and a vibration I could feel at about 70mph. Will figure these out. Im thinking its a driveshaft issue. For all the work done Ill call it a success. cruised it for 30 mins solid and ran great. Nice and cool and good oil pressure.

My buddy Matt who has helped alot with this car

Danielle who has TRIED to help alot hahahahah
