trans?
well sorta i need to know how to support the back of the engine while the transmission is out of the truck. thanks guys

Put a floor jack under the oil pan other than that i dont know of any methods
Why do you need to support it? I normally just let them hang while the trans is out |

A bottle jack with a 2X4 protecting the pan is the best way.
If you just let it go, you run the risk of breaking the exhaust manifolds, or stressing the welds on the headers. |

A ratchet strap from frame rail to frame rail works also and is nice if you have to move it during the swap

Remember, if you have a V8 there isnt much room between the firewall and Distributor. Remove the cap or the whole distributor before the engine is dropped any when the tranny is removed to avoid damage to it or the firewall! Good Luck! 70short/step

To add to my last reply, if you were to just remove the manifolds/headers to prevent damage, then you would tear up your motor mounts.

Ive never ran into any problems Friend of mine owns a transmission shop he never supports the engine either. I guess some have different luck Or worn out motor mounts.

Happened to a member's truck in a tranny shop about 2 years ago, happened to me once (bought that way), and once at the shop on an E-250.

It only takes bad luck one time to ruin your day,or a shops reputation.Why take the chance?A buddy of mine that owns a trans shop would have a fit if one of his employies would let the motor hang.
