steering wheel install issues (pics)

I ordered the classic Grant #967 and was told to get the install kit 3163 for my 1972. Well things are just not making any sense here. Take a look for yourself.

Does the original horn plunger stay where it is at? Or do I take the blinker mechanism all the way out and remove the stock? Plus the hub didn't look like it would even line up with the stock plunger location...any input??

Leave the spring loaded plunger where it's at, then install the white canceling cam, then install the wheel adapter. Make sure the tube on the white cam goes through that hole on the adapter.

Re: steering wheel install issues (pics)

I found what you may be calling the cancelling cam, but it looks like the tube was hacked off (on purpose).

Once I install that, and then the hub and get the nut snug it is up against the factory plunger. Is that correct? (see pic)

Then the new plunger is too long to go back down thru the hub. (see pics). I have never had this much trouble installing a dang steering wheel and am getting impatient!

That cancel cam is broke. Get a new one if you want the horn to work and the turn signals to cancel after turn.

The new horn plunger goes through that hacked off tube you don't have. Get the canceling cam, then install the wheel adapter with the tube part going through that hole in it. Then install the horn wire into the canceling cam tube. Once you get the new part, it will all make sense, fit, and work...
