Remove fenders, core support, and grill without inners

Is it possible for me to remove the fenders, core support, and grill without removing the inner fenders and hood?

There is no support if you remove the core support. What are you trying to accomplish? There are only 10 bolts + 4 on hood. I just pulled the inners out.

The inner fenders mount in the front to the core support. It would of course be possible but the inner fenders would be hanging with nothing but the rear bolts holding them like LVPhotos said. Might as well take them off and clean them up a bit or at least place them somewhere for safekeeping!

Re: Remove fenders, core support, and grill without inners

I was hoping to pull front core support/grill so I can mock up my new engine. I only wanted to remove fenders to do rust repair.

So is it possible to remove core support/grill and just leave fenders/inner-fenders/hood?

Theoretically you could, however not advisable as you will have some support issues.

Use some 2x4 and support the inner fenders

If you are pulling the core support you are removing the most important tie in component. Take the extra 10 minutes to pull the hood and inner fenders. It will make things considerably less stressful than trying a balancing act of supporting the few attached parts.

I did that to my GMC 2503 and there didn't seem to be a problem with support. I could open and close the hood no problem. Of course, it is a GMC!

You can do it, but if you are doing it long term I'd remove the hood so the weight of it doesn't warp the unsupported inner fenders.

When I get back to the truck. Haven't done anything to it but drive it for the last while as a bunch of other life BS got in the way. Come spring I'll get back into it.
