To have gotten road worthy my brother and I replaced tires ,brake lines, oil filter lines, master, new gas tank and lines , rebuilt carb , water pump and hoses. Brazed the filler neck. And for comfort new seat and extra pad.
The truck looks to have had a very easy life , no major dents or deep rust besides the surface . Never thought I'd have so much fun with primitive vehicle. Last edited by 63chevyman; 01-21-2015 at 02:07 AM. Reason: Needed changed |

They are a lot of fun all stock. I really enjoyed my all stock 1950 1/2 ton short bed. I hauled furniture, loads of dirt, and things from home depot. I got a ton of looks using it for real work but it was lots of fun. Take good care of yours. Mine passed away this summer when the #1 piston rod punched its way through the side of the block. Now the truck is down for a full rebuild.

Best one to date, just got it registered drove into town . Next thing I see is a cop car following me. Getting nervous thinking I forgot somthing. And all he wanted to do was check out the truck. So he got the full tour.
Transmission is a little noisy may be the next to get rebuilt. At about 55 howling pretty bad. I don't think its normal. Did change the gear oil before ever driving it |

It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around. |

I bought my original 55 over 20 years ago with all intentions to rod it. Never got around to it and now I'm glad. The older I get the more I appreciate it's originality. Old, scuffed up, paint peeling and every time I go to town I end up showing and talking with somebody coming over to look at it.
Now days people are painting and sanding back down to the primer in spots to get them to look this way... |
