Need replacement grille for 1986 dual headlamps

I'm in need of a new grille for my 86 C20 with dual headlamp bulbs. LMC doesn't offer a replacement for my truck. There must be a vender that does or is it back to the dealer ? I was just planning on a plan gray grille without the Bowtie.
And painting the thick strip in the middle of the grille myself. Also replacing the headlamp bezels at the same time.

Thanks Ken

What do you mean "dual headlamp"? Like the 88-91 blazer style?

Aren't grilles the same no matter how many headlights? It's the bezels and core support that change

I don't really want just any year grille which most likely is a bolt on. I want what came on the truck as close as possible. I have found other venders who offer a replacement. But its a gamble on how well it will fit. Oh well.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/150418136679...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT this is a package deal but ebay is the best place I found for our year dual hl so just search around on there and you'll find them resonable priced.
Oh and NO the grille changed with year models etc...

Thanks I found a better deal. I do know of E-bay. I was hoping for a forum vendor to spend my money with.

I thought my '86 had the original grill until I pulled it out and found made in China on the back. Don't know who makes it but it has the bow tie.

Re: Need replacement grille for 1986 dual headlamps

I was thinking about the same thing, using a dual headlight grille in a quad headlight core support and headlight bezels. I don't see why it wouldn't work. I bought a Silverado grille for my '86 that had the holes for the bowtie and chrome trim from Rock Auto and they list the plain ones without bowtie and holes also. Price was less than $30 and $30 for shipping. Got the headlight bezels too. Quality was good. I would buy again. Bought a GMC grille also and quality was not so good. I would not buy again.

I was going to recommend the rock auto grille as well.

Looks like it has the holes for the trim and bowtie!

Re: Need replacement grille for 1986 dual headlamps

An update on my 1986 Grille replacement search. I ended up ordering two grilles from two different vendors. The winner turned out to be RockAuto Parts.
They sold me a Keystone replacement grille. I'm very pleased with it, and for the money you can't find anything better. As far as I looked in this price range.
I paid $ 28.00 plus shipping.
I didn't buy new headlamp doors, mine are reusable. So a quick rub with a piece of scotch brite pad. I also used the scotch brite on the new grille it had over run. Or little tails here and there from the molding process. I haven't painted everything yet, waiting on the weather(rain) I want all the pieces to match.
A nice fresh front look. One more thing off the long list.

Thanks for all input guys.

I ordered mine from here. I wanted the factory looks also. They have an assortment for styles, years and headlight setup

I looked at Rock Auto, the only thing I don't see, is where you can get the left & right side molding for that grill. The molding that gets painted the color of the truck.

No they don't sell the paint to match moldings that snap in place toward the center of the grille. Doesn't quite make since to only sell half the part ? But most likely there thinking is these moldings are reusable. Which on my truck and grille I am going to be able to save those two piece's. I just have to refresh the paint.

The place I got mine from, did have the right & left moldings, I can't wait until it comes. I have a Billet Grille now, but I really love the original stock look.

Ken, post photos when you get yours installed, I'd like to see it.

The grille and the headlight bezels are completely different parts.

I understood from your first post that you think the number of headlights affects the grille.

Re: Need replacement grille for 1986 dual headlamps

My two headlight grille from Rock Auto should be here by Friday. I am putting it on a four headlight core support. I thought about the park lights after I ordered it. They won't fit the grille because they were below the headlights and not mounted in the grille. Looks like a good place for that pristine '81-'82 bumper that I have.

Re: Need replacement grille for 1986 dual headlamps

Update: after waiting for months, the left & right grille molding are no longer available anywhere. Now there is an OEM brand new set being sold on eBay, but there's no way I'm paying the price they are asking. So I guess my Grille Project is on the back burner. I may go with the Rock Auto grille ( the one without the holes for the grille moldings). But it won't accept an emblem, which kind of sucks too.

Re: Need replacement grille for 1986 dual headlamps

Mine is also still sitting in a corner. The Rock Auto grille is a good grille for the money. It took a lot of detail sanding and some dremel tool work to make it look right. The small stainless trim pieces didn't fit correctly, lots of molding edges have hangers on them that need sanded off.
It needed a respray after the clean up sanding.

My color coded center trim pieces are weather cracked and showing the plastic chrome base coat. Its going to be hard to get a good finish on these pieces. I don't mind wet sanding, so I have my work cut out for me.
