Dash makeover on Red Ryder
So the dash on Red Ryder has a few cracks near the speaker grille and I didn't really care too much about trying to fix them, but the color was faded and it had a few stains. A few weeks ago, I saw David Freiburger from Hot Rod Magazine and Roadkill do a spot on their Hot Rod Garage youtube channel sponsored by the new Duplicolor vinyl dyes. I saw some at the local Autozone, so I thought why not...
Before and After. It's not shiny like the old time dyes seemed to "try" to be... I say "try" because it seemed like the old dyes would be shiny in some spots, but dull in others. This is a matte finish and is even coloring and finish throughout. Very impressed. Now I wish I had filled the gaps and textured it properly, this thing would be MINT! (David Freiburger reference) Went from the faded dark brown to the lighter saddle type of color. Covered very well. This is some tough dye!!! Also note: Scottsdale wood trim insert to further convert from GMC to Chevy.
