Will this core support work for my 70 Jimmy if I transfer the headlight buckets?
It is sold through several online vendors, and is listed for 1970 GMC pickups Amazon, but they say it does not fit
the Jimmy.
I posted this in the Blazer forum and didn't get much info. Please let me know if y'all have any further information. Thanks

Re: radiator core support, GMC compatibility question

It should be just a matter of swapping buckets. I've had both types of core supports, but never done the swap myself. They looked identical to me otherwise.
I put a 68 GMC clip on a 71 Chevy without problems though. The double headlight wiring was the only headache.

Thanks for the info
Anyone know if there are years that are different?

IMO no way, unless you put a blazer front end on it. Maybe someone else will chime in that actually knows.

Why don't you just buy one for the GMC any of the Key Parts Dealers carry them.

Other than the spot welded headlight buckets, what would make it not work?

This was my original plan, but if the Chevy ones will work with a couple extra hours of my time, they are almost half the price once you figure in shipping. That's a good chunk of change that can go towards other parts I want.

Quoting myself here:

Maybe someone else will chime in that actually knows.

Compare the pictures, tackle it if you dare.

Sometimes differences can be subtle, so I very much doubt you will get any assurance, however, please post your results if you try so other people will know in the future. Maybe start a faq thread. I have wasted money on things like this in the past so I know where you are coming from. That being said, I'm starting to lean towards you can do it but again, I cannot assure you.

Check first to see if the Jimmy takes the same front fenders as the Chevy. Maybe not relevant, maybe relevant, I don't know.

Maybe someone else will chime in that does know.

Re: radiator core support, GMC compatibility question

GMC, including Jimmy, use different fenders from Chevy, for 1970. Not sure myself if it matters either, but am stating it for possible future thread usefulness.
thanks everyone for the info so far.

Re: radiator core support, GMC compatibility question

Shipping is what will kill yah on the GMC core support. I was at a swap meet yesterday and talked to a couple of vendors there and they said they could get them for 260. One was local to me and another is out of Oklahoma but hits all the swap meets. Check around before you order. After shipping and the time and effort spent it might be more cost affective to order through a local shop.
Also I found this one online. Shipping for me to North Texas was 39 bucks.
