Re: 5 lug?

The simple answer... spindle swap . Go to the FAQ and look up disc brake info. I don't think you can keep the drum brakes and have 5 lugs.

Re: 5 lug?

The easy way is to do the 73 to 87 swap. It also gives you the better brakes.

Re: 5 lug?

I used a McGaughy disc brake/spindle kit from Summit. Worked like a charm and wasn't all that difficult.

What did Moser charge to redrill? If you don't mind me asking.

Re: 5 lug?

Easiest way I.M.O. is to buy a 73-87 1/2 ton pickup or suburban and pull the rear end and front suspension including the crossmember. Pull yours out and put this in. One day R&R.
I just did one on a 68 C30 1 ton out and in complete in one day. You can rebuild everything or nothing as you choose. My donor was in great shape so I chose to leave everything alone. Bolt it in and away you go. Drill a couple holes and elongate a couple. Easy Peasy.

Re: 5 lug?

Up front, drop spindles or spindles from any 71-87 1/2 ton truck. Spindles, new ball joints to fit you a-arms and an outer tie rod to fit your spindles.

Out back.....66 will have trailing arms which you will need to weld the mounts onto any new axle housing you get other than the 71/72 coils sprung 12 bolts ( good luck finding one of those!)

Your easiest option is to either purchase new axles in the 5 lug pattern OR pull your axles and take them to a race machine shop and have them re-drilled( take a 5 lug drum with you for surety)

Good luck!
