Engine bay...Black..Gloss, flat or satin paint?

Getting ready to paint the engine bay. It will be black. Question is, if it were you, what would you do...gloss, flat or, satin paint? And, reason why you would choose what you did?

I shot mine with SEM trim black. It is the perfect sheen.

Big fan of trim black / satin black

easier to clean and looks cleaner...you don't get streaks and if something happens you can touch it up easier...but that just my opion...

I prefer satin black. Gloss black will start to get scuffs and scratches right away and look like crap. Flat black is just too flat for my liking on anything but high heat applications.

satin is the way to go. plus it looked that way from the factory and you cant go wrong with that.

Cool Re: Engine bay...Black..Gloss, flat or satin paint?

I've done mine in Gloss Black. The first time was with Walmart rattlecan, and it was some of the best I've seen. I have to re do the inner fenders again, as I have satin black overspray all over everything, as I had to cover the bare metal after stripping the body. Reason for gloss? I like it shiny.

I prefer satin when I paint the engine bays. Hides imperfections better than gloss.
