Aluminum Radiators
the '68 came with a big, shiny, aluminum radiator. I never had one of those before but it sure looks neat
Two days ago, I noticed it was leaking. So, I drained it, popped it out and ran it down to the radiator shop. That's when I learned,...YOU CAN'T REPAIR AN ALUMINUM RADIATOR!!!!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?????? Wow! Why would anyone buy one of these? I think, I'll just buy an Old School copper/brass radiator. Shiny piece of crap |

Re: Aluminum Radiators
OH My... Really?
They repair aluminum radiators all the time. where is it leaking? Never ever go back to that radiator shop, not even to use the restroom. If you are going to throw that leaking aluminum one away, I will be waiting by your trash can. edit: wait maybe not waiting by your trash can. I didn't realize Post Falls was so far North in Idaho. LOL

Re: Aluminum Radiators
The shop I use will not repair epoxy bonded aluminum radiators.

Re: Aluminum Radiators
I'll not be putting horse turds, sealant, tobacco, egg whites, voodoo magic, or anything else in my coolant system, thanks anyway.
I think I found a fresh copper/brass 4 core, for $100. Nobody will ever convince me that aluminum radiators (and Edelbrock carburators) are anything other than shiny pieces of crap **typo fixed *** Last edited by Greasey Harley; 02-11-2015 at 10:53 PM. |

Re: Aluminum Radiators
You are correct epoxy aluminum radiators or not repairable and they do count as pos in my book. A fully welded aluminum radiator is an excellent choice and CAN be repaired by a reputable shop. Sounds like you are on a budget but if not contact one of the board vendors RnD Fabrication. I have one of their units and am very impressed with the quality and design.
