I use solid spacers and not washers and move it out just so I can see a sliver of light between the box and frame, with washers & lock washers inside the frame. Make sure the spacers are the same diameter as the threaded bosses on the steering box. (I think 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch) If you have to get longer bolts make sure they are grade 8 bolts. I am not saying this is what you should do as that would be your call. If I was going to modify the frame I would cut the area out and weld in a curved piece of the same thickness, cut from a piece of pipe, or hand formed. The contour of the piece should match the shape of the steering box. Just my 2¢ worth. LockDoc

He means taking the fitting out of the back of your old pump and putting it in the new pump. However, this can only be done on a truck style pump, and not an F body type. You will need the F body hose to clear the pulley since it's in the way of where most hoses would want to come out of the pump. An easy way would be to get a newer power steering box that uses O ring fittings instead of double flare, I think around '81-'87 trucks. This is what I usually do, and it has the extra added benefit of being fewer turns lock to lock, which makes the truck drive (feel) a little more like a modern truck.

Been working on the panel off and on but I had to take a little break from it to put a new crate engine and NV4500 trans in a '72 C-30 I picked up.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...52#post7206852 So I'm back on it again and I had a couple of wiring questions that the guys on here answered for me to get me back on track. I fired the engine up today. I had a small glitch that took me some time to figure out but it was really simple, I missed hooking up one ground wire. The only problem was it was the most important one. It was for the ECM, so everything was dead until I figured it out. It needs tuned and the VATS removed but the guy I bought the engine and trans off of agreed to come over and do that for me as part of the purchase deal. I called him this afternoon and told him I was ready for him to give me a hand on it whenever he had the time. He is going to let me know after he checks his schedule.... A couple of friends of mine are going to come over tomorrow and help me set the front clip back on it, then I can finish hooking everything back up. I can't wait to drive it. I went to the salvage yard yesterday and picked up a couple of things. Electric fan assembly, OBD2 port, misc bolts, clips, and assorted hardware. The electric fans are off of a 2002 Toyota Camry and they fit the '67-'72 radiator to a "T". We will see how they do on the cooling chores. They do seem to move a lot of air.... I also blasted and painted the auxiliary battery box and installed it. Tied up a bunch of loose ends and made a couple of brackets. Tomorrow I will get the fans wired, throttle cable hooked up, radiator hoses installed, and go over all of my work again to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. LockDoc

I'm sure going to try to Chip. I'm having trouble getting the tune done. The guy that was going to do it must have fallen off the face of the earth. I talked to him on the 8th and haven't heard a word since. I need to get the tune done so I can take it to the muffler shop and take it to get the front end aligned.... LockDoc

I am interested in those fans but have looked online and all I can find on 2002 jeep liberty fans is that they use only a single fan not duals? are you certain on the their origin?
