Question How do I replace the upper bearing in the column?

Well I have it torn down to the bearing and the metal support housing but don't know how to get it off the shaft from there. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Craig

You have to remove the bearing housing from the inner shaft. The upper bearing has a plastic race that you can carefully pop out of the steel race by hand.

That's what I thought but the bearing bracket housing doesn't want to slide off the shaft so I can pop the bearing out. I don't see any puller holes like in the steering wheel and I don't want to mess up the outer housing. I'll hit it with some PB Blaster and maybe that will help.

Thanks. This answers a lot of the questions I had. I bought one of the 68-72 manuals from the vendors but all it has is a couple of sheets for the 72 and it was just random pages. This is a bunch better manual. I down loaded it and will put it to good use. Thanks a lot for the link.
