Tranny leak
I have determined that my tranny (Th-350) is leaking fluid from the general area of the dipstick tube. Is there anything else beside the tube O-ring that I need to replace?
Thanks, Krue

Been there done that 3 times trying to track this leak down. Have a rubber gasket on the pan now. I can finally see fluid around dipstick.

go the chevy parts house and ask for the replacement dipstick. the end that goes in the trans will be smaller diameter than stock and will come with rubber boot to replace stupid leaking O rings. good solid fit, no more leaks (from that part anyhow).I paid less than 20 bucks awhile back for this.

I was always taught that if it leaks then every thing is all right. if it doesn't leak then you have a problem.

Silocone the dipstick in addition to the o ring thats the only way i could get mine to seal.
the newer style dipstick with the grommets are 10 times better about sealing up than the o rings. you can find them just about anywhere for cheap . Just find a newer car or truck late 70s mid 80s with a th350 . you can get a new replacement dipstick with the lock down dipstick for around 20 at a local transmission shop here. |
