Picked up a new toy this morning
-
I really didn't need another vehicle, but you know the old story. Local car and the lady didn't want to advertise it. I made her an offer on it last fall and she called me this morning and told me to come and get it. 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee. LockDoc

Re: Picked up a new toy this morning
Thanks Ryan. It is really solid. It has an exhaust leak and a couple of other small problems but it runs really good.... LockDoc

Re: Picked up a new toy this morning
I don't know a lot about it Shawn. The gals son bought it and then moved to Florida. He is now a house guest of the Federal Government. (for a lot of years) She evidently put up part of the money for it and luckily the title was in her name. Going by the numbers it was originally a high performance 383/4 speed car but it now has a 440 with an automatic. I don't know much about the MoPars so I had a couple of MoPar guys I know look at it for me. I just wanted to verify the Super Bee authenticity, and it really is. LockDoc

Re: Picked up a new toy this morning
WOW! I had a friend back in the early 80's that had a black one....the cops hated him cuz he could out run them all in no time. He had a 440 and a 4 speed, those pull hard and he used to stick a $20 bill on the dash and say when I say go, if you can get it, you can have it. He would hammer the gas and dump the clutch and say go! I could never reach it and dont know if anyone could. fond memories of being real stupid I guess... Good luck and nice find!

Re: Picked up a new toy this morning
My grandfather had one of those that was not the Super Bee version.
His was a Coronet 500, painted dark blue, vinyl top, black interior, buckets, console with floor shift automatic. I don't think he ever realized what he had. He gave it to my mom to drive as a daily driver and the car ran fantastic. Reverse went out in the transmission and the car was sold to a local high school kid my age. Dad wouldn't let me fix the car and keep it myself. The kid that got the car totaled it while screwing around and racing on some back country roads up in Maine.

Thanks Gents, I'm going to have fun with this one. If you see some old fart racing around in a hot Yellow muscle car you can just shake your head in disbelief..

Re: Picked up a new toy this morning
I have a better deal for you Leon. I'll trade you Indian113's S10, a chocolate malt, a banana split, and my nephew's 89 Civic. what say we meet in Sioux City to make the trade? Of course you will figure out how to collect the S10 on your own. I hear he sleeps real heavy at night
