Advice Before Powder Coating
A question to the guys that powder coated their 4x4 frames.
Did you remove your front spring bushing brackets, and powder coat them separately? Then bolt them back on afterwards? Or just leave them on? Also I'm guessing that I should burn those old bushings out, before taking it to be powder coated. Their ovens go up to 400 or 500 degrees, so that rubber would probably melt out and ooze all over the frame.

Powder coating is done at 375-400 degrees so the rubber must come out. Removing the bushing brackets is probably overkill, but will guarantee that rust will not weep out from the areas in behind that the powder can't reach.

I've never powder coated a frame before, but the rust weep between the bracket and frame was my concern. But then I look at ALL the pieces that are riveted to the frame, and I'm thinking if I remove these brackets, what about the others. I'm probably just OCD and just need to get it done and move on LOL!

If it was me, I wouldn't powder coat it. I've restored many vehicles over the years, and prefer a good quality urethane paint. The reason is that it's repairable, where powder is not. The frame will look awesome if powder coated, but like anything else will start to fail in a few years and the stuff will be impossible to remove.IMHO
