Has anyone on here cut up a old hard top like this

I did my jeep top like that, I'd love to find a cheap one for my blazer. I loved it, it's like a safari top with no flapping and doesn't hold water.

I have a top with no hatch sitting around that I might do that with, pretty cool. Wonder if it attaches to the roll bar for support?

I left the b pillar on my jeep top for support and the door seals, I'd probably do the same on the blazer.

Anyone ever thought about building a top using tubing and some sheet metal to cover it? Be cool to have the option of removing the sides like above but still be ridged being steel tubing.

The only reason I thought about it is because tops seem to bring a premium these days in ca. I've been looking for a clean single wall and everytime I come across one its at a 1k+ proposition and still needs work.
