How best to load?
Two sheets of aluminum siding 28" x 10' (siding for a tool shed)
50 miles to home via highway (no back roads to go slow on) 8 foot bed with a tool box bolted to the floor (no space underneath) How best to load so as to have them arrive home without crushing, bending creasing, or flying away?

Re: How best to load?
Drop the tailgate, now the space you lost with the toolbox you have back.
Add a sheet of plywood or whatever decent 4x8 material you have laying around. Leave the plywood sticking far enough over the tailgate where it supports the siding. Strap it all into the bed. If you really want to go hog wild do this before you strap it down: Run two 8' 2x4's along the edges of the plywood, leaving just enough space for the siding in between them. Run some 2x4's across the siding and screw it down to the 2x4's you attached to the plywood so that they clamp the siding down.

Re: How best to load?
Laying flat for sure. 10' laying on 8' of deck should be fine. Lay a 2x4 under the strap (I use ratchet straps) to spread pressure out and keep strap off edge of sheet stock

Re: How best to load?
Use a trailer. Barrow one if you have to. Have them deliver it for you.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |
