problems on a 69
can somebody tell me is it hard to switch the gas pedal and the gas pedal cable out of a 72 to a 69. The pedal rod on the 69 is sticking and was just gonna do away with it and put a 72 cable and pedal on it. It is a hard swap or fairly simple? Thanks

I thought about doing this when I could not find a trans kick down switch and was told it is a pain in the a$$. The cabs are diffrent so the pedal will not mount right.

I have done this on cars that had a rod linkage, and it was a piece of cake. Get a pedal assembly out of any Chevy truck up to 87. Position the pedal where you want it and mark and drill the three holes. Now more than likely the place you put it will not be flat, so you will have to use a few washers to even things up. Mount it with nuts, bolts, flatwashers and locker washers...an extra person here will be handy....if you put the nuts on the inside it will look better. Now mark where the cable will pass thru the fire wall. Newer cables require a square hole, so drill a small hole, and use a die grinder or file/hacksaw blade to make it square...helps if you measured the size of the hole when you got the pedal assembly from the bone yard. A couple of hours doing it the hard way with hand tools or less than half that if you have a die grinder,(you will spend most of your'e time making the square hole) and your'e done....go drink a beer and admire your work.

Have you looked at your motor mounts?
I only ask becouse the rod will bind up if you have a bad motor mount. |

thanks for the info i think i got this one fixed.the clip that holds the 2 rods together broke and the new one wouldnt stay on so i put a cable tie over it and that made it to tight on the piviot part so thats where it was sticking.so i took the little piece thats slips through the other rod and drilled a hole init and put a cotter pin in it seems to be fine now.thanks

The cotter pin is a good idea.........I'm assuming there's plenty of clearance for it....
