2005 5.3 bolted to a 4L80e

I know it has been talked about before but I seem not to find the article right now. Do I need a 6.0 flexplate with spacer or the 5.3 flexplate with spacer? This my first LS conversion with a 4l80e trans and the more I read that the majorty of individuals seem to go with Speartech for wiring mods. Love the comments or experience tech advise. I have a 1969 Suburban K-10 4x4 with 2005 5.3 and 4L80e with stage three kit along with a np205 32 spline conversion.

It's not 5.3L vs 6.0L because both have been equipped with 4L60E's or 4L80E's in one application or another.

'01 to '06 2500HD 6.0L/4L80E as the application will get you the correct Flexplate, Spacer, Crank Bolts, & Torque Converter Bolts.

^ +1. If you already have the transmission you can just pick up a GM flex plate, spacer, and bolts to make it hook right up but I don't know of anyone that sells the three pieces as a kit anymore other than occasional sellers on eBay.

You can piece together the GM parts from somewhere like Jegs http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...01010/10002/-1

Or pick up an aftermarket piece like this one from Hughes: http://m.summitracing.com/parts/hup-hp4004x-ebp

My 4l80e was from a 2000 Silverado with a 6.0 with a long crank snout so I couldn't just grab everything I needed from the donor. Those two options above were the best I could find from the different forums I've been looking on.

When I put the 4L80 behind my 5.3, I bought the flexplate, spacer, and bolts as one package. Cheapest I found was $50 at Rock Auto. I actually got the local Advance to price match that and picked it up on the way home from work one evening. The part number is "Z270" and it's made by "ATP".

Or if you are doing a converter you can have it made to fit a 4.8/5.3l Flex plate.

Just thought I'd throw that in for fun!
