Re: key switch

Remove lock cylinder by positioning switch in LOCK position & insert wire in upper small hole in cylinder face. Push in on wire to depress plunger & continue to turn key counterclockwise until lock cylinder can be removed.

Try this 1st....
Remove the lock again. When reinstalling the key cylinder, have the key in it, and put it back into the hole, and turn right like you are trying to start the engine, and it will automatically lock itself (should).

If not....Sounds to me like you got a faulty ignition lock that you replaced. I'd contact carandtruckshop and have them send a new one.
I'd tell them that's the whole point of replacing your ignition lock is so that you can lock it.

Re: key switch

Far left is the lock position. When the key is out you can't turn the cylinder with a screw driver

Re: key switch

My stock switch doesn't have an ACC position...I thought that it was an ACC side until I noticed in the service manual it was a lock position only...I'm guessing this was a first for keyless ignition in the day until you wanted to secure the vehicle with lock position.
Do you have a later switch ?, like from a 67-72 series ?

Re: key switch

I see Classic parts has my switch listed for a 62-66. They don't list one for an earlier application 60-61...not sure why the difference

Re: key switch

These crazy little surprises. LMC shows the ign sw from 62-66 only, but the replacement lock cylinder is for 60-66 (fits all). It would be interesting to know why the difference..

Re: key switch

OK so when shut my truck off. If I turn my key to the lock position. It locks it from moving? I try ed it and it stops it from using aNY other key to turn it. Which means I've been doing the wrong way the hole time...
