35 spline
Looking at moving my current 31 spline set up to the Blue Luv and building a new housing for the Yellow truck . I was going 35 spline and 5/8's drive lugs . Should i just go 40 spline ? Is it worth the added weight ?

Re: 35 spline
Not sure of other manufacturers, but when I went from MW solid 35 spline to their 40 spline gun-drilled axles in the early '90s, the 40 spline axles weighed 4.5 pounds less in my application.

Re: 35 spline
I have 35 spline gun drilled and a star flange. Used a posi unit and that is the biggest axle I could use.

Re: 35 spline
Looking like 35 spline and 5/8 will do what I need . Thinking 35 spline is more common .

Re: 35 spline
From what I've heard gun drilled are not recommended on the street, seeing as you have a posi unit I'd assume for some street driving, so just a FYI.

But anyway, 35 in a good forged axel will handle lots, I went Moser, Mark Williams were my top choice but too pricey at the time.

Re: 35 spline
There not drilled all the way through. It's like 20" from inside edge. Don't know some say it strengthens axles . yeah wanted to drive it some.

Re: 35 spline
Just a FYI here,, but the maker and hardening process of an axle is JUST, if not MORE important than how many splines,, well to a point that is.
I had a Strange 35spline axle twist with just 580HP (14x32-15 slick dead hooking) Then I 'exploded' a Dutchman 35 spline axle with the same 580HP Next I put a nasty twist in a Strange 31spline axle with 660HP As pair of Moser 31spline axles did better, but has a 1/4 spline twist when I replaced them,, and I have yet to twist or damage the Mark Williams 31spline axles with 800HP For whatever thats all worth
