Hot Rod Power Tour

This may have been posted already but I'll ask again even if it was.

Any one on here going to do the hotrod power tour. Runing from Texas to Green Bay WI. I'm thinking about doing it myself seeing as though I live in Green Bay and it would be fun to end it here. Will need to do a little tweaking to the 71 get it ready for that kind of trip but I think i'll have time, the tour in is june.

What do you guys think. Be pretty slick to have a big caravan of 67-72's.

That is what I want to do when the truck gets done. Hopefully it will be ready and done for 2005.

My brother and I are doing it this year. Last year was our first year, and we went the whole way in my brother's regular cab S-15. Talk about bonding 3600 miles in a 3x5 cab. But I guess we're gluttons for punishment, cuz we're going again this year. The '72 is nowhere near finished (actually just started), so we're stuck in the S-15 again. Oh well. Should be fun. BTW, we're starting in the Detroit area. After Green Bay, we're going home through the U.P. Should be an awesome drive.

suggestion for power tour

If you are planning on only going on one or selected legs of the tour check the route before going. I went last year and only went on the first leg, from Nashville to Memphis. At the time I had a glide in my truck with 4.30 gears and did not check the map closely before going. To say the least I was disappointed to see that the first day they went exclusively on the interstate and we hardly saw anyone since me and my buddies could only go about 60 MPH. Now I have a 700R4 in mine and could keep up no problem, but it was a problem last year. My truck had to stop every 50 miles for fuel. Just a tidbit of info. The sad part is that i had the 700R4 sitting in my garage but loaned it to a buddy to run in his car for the tour and I did it with the glide.

Yooper,
I'm planning (hoping) on making the long haul. I've got a lot of work to do before then. I live near Stevens Point. Shoot me an email: tomsc10r@yahoo.com

Dammit Tom,
You're everywhere, lol!

My '69 will be making it's second PowerTour appearance, and it's first Long Haul. Yeaaaaaaah buddy.

Gettin' the 700-R4 freshened up over spring break, and I gotta put a new set of shoes on her before makign that trek. Tom, maybe we could get away with bringing only one spare...

Oh, nevermind, my dad will be towing my flatbed behind his truck :p We can pack some stuff on there.
