Power washing my engine?

Hey guys,
I need to clean and degrease my inline 6 that has been ignored for a very very very long time. It has built up gunk all over the block and I want to steam jenny my engine to clean it up in perpetration for painting. My question is what all do I need to cover? I'd like to wash and degrease as much as I can since the whole engine and inner fenders have a beautiful film over it all. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Power washing my engine?

Cover the carb and alternator real good and don't focus the spray on hoses or wires to long and you'll be fine. I like to have an air compressor near so I can blow it dry so water don't lay where it shouldent
