Tilt seatback
69 CST10
Have new bench seat covers to install but would like to remove in cab tank for storage but only if the seat back can be changed to a tilt down. Is this possible? |

Re: Tilt seatback
Tilt forward towards the steering wheel, or back toward the window?

Re: Tilt seatback
Yes, that can be done easily on the original bench.

Re: Tilt seatback
Look at the arm that attaches the seat back. There will be an arm on there and a nut that prevents it from pivoting. Just look at the arm and it will become apparent what you need to do, unless some previous owner has welded it.

Re: Tilt seatback
What about the upholstery for the seat back that wraps over the side of the seat bottom and attaches?

Re: Tilt seatback
The best way to do it is to buy a 67-68 seat that have the ability to flip forward, they require a different cover tho...
With what you have you would need an appolstry shop to modify the upper seat cover flaps to attach to the upper part of the seat only.

Re: Tilt seatback
Yes the flap had me puzzled. I should have got all of this straight before buying the new covers.

Re: Tilt seatback
If you do let an upholstery shop modify the flap i'd like to see it, if you haven't looked at how the seat attaches yet there are 2 countersunk screws on each side, to make it a tilt forward you need to remove the rear most set of screws

Re: Tilt seatback
Hitch and and a hitch pin would be easy to throw in there and quickly take out to lock the seat in
