Re: Which radio and speaker set up?

We used a Custom Autosound head unit in the '58 build we did. Owner took it to a friend to do the rest of the audio and interior. I know they used speakers in the kick panels, a couple behind the seat(tank's been relocated from the cab)and a sub box of some kind under the seat. Mounted the amp to the trim panel they made for the back of the cab after the tank was removed.
Sounds pretty good, but I don't like the box sticking out from under the center of the seat or the amp that's visible when you fold down the center arm rest.

Re: Which radio and speaker set up?

Got a stock radio off ebay with knobs, nice chrome for $100. Stuck it in to see how it looked and its been there ever since. One of these days I'll get it singing....

Re: Which radio and speaker set up?

I recently installed an Apache Retro Sound radio in my truck and I'm very pleased with it. The radio is probably a lot better than the speakers that I installed to go with it but it's OK for me. I used Custom Auto Sound kick panel speakers and put the other two speakers in an original style housing in the top front of the cab. Not ideal at all as the speakers are too small but will do for now.

Re: Which radio and speaker set up?

i have the apache retrosound radio. my favorite feature is the USB mp3 reader.. put tons of songs on a USB thumb drive..and if you organize your songs in folders on your computer and copy the folders onto the thumb drive, it makes it real easy to navigate thru your library of songs...

i have custom autosound speakers in the stock location near the rearview mirror, and a kenwood self powered subwoofer under the seat. sounds very good. the subwoofer was a huge improvement to the sound.

Re: Which radio and speaker set up?

Pulled the ashtray out of my '58 GMC and installed the Retrosound model two with a custom faceplate. Kenwood speakers. The Retrosound is a great unit with the bluetooth option to play off my iphone.

Re: Which radio and speaker set up?

Theres a new redesigned RetroSound Apache unit that now has bluetooth. Too bad I bought my Apache unit right before the new model replaced it. I would have waited if I had known.
