Motor mount question

I pulled my 350 on my 70 c20 today. First time I've done it on a truck, I pulled the single bolt out underneath the mount that goes into the engine side of the mount. My question is is it easier to just unbolt the whole mount from the frame? It was not easy to get to and reinstalling it is not going to be easy since I can't see the bolt hole to make sure they are lined up

Re: Motor mount question

The original motor mounts are by far the hardest thing I've tried to install on my truck. It didn't help I had some cheap parts store ones. A much better option is to switch to the car style motor mounts. I know it costs some money, but the headache and safety benefit (the original ones had some sort of recall for breaking which required a chain to be added, to my understanding ) is worth the cost. Best of luck.

IIRC I removed 1 engine stand and bolted it to the block, while working the other side on with the motor slung .25-.5 inch above the other stand for some wiggle room.

What kinda car mounts? I have a set of Camaro mounts and I think Chevrolet ones ( the clam shell ones). Will it make the engine sit to low?
