1959 Apache Reborn
Hello all! New to the whole forum world. Just would like to share my build with like minded individuals! What I have here is a 59 apache. When I bought the truck it had a god awful Brown spray job. I like the original paint to stay original so I wet sanded the primer Brown off. I dig these old trucks with the weathered look. It took a long time to get this look so why cover it. Unless of course the tin is emaculate than go ahead and paint.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Got the front end off to do a little clean up. I had every intention of doing a drop axle and swap the front to disc brakes but I nixed that idea and went with a subframe for better steering and overall drivability on a day to day basis.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Got the subframe under it and the innerfenders stepped to house the new front suspension with a lot of help from my buddy Nik Williamson.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Time for a "little" notch in the rear for the drop. Plans are to bag this truck and go to the ground. I dig the look of a truck sitting super low!

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Once the sub was in and the notch and triangulated 4 link was in I got the cab off and finished getting the frame cleaned and painted. Oh and rebuilt the front with all new uppers and lower bushings and some moog ball joints.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Got my air ride and bags in. Also I decided to go with a manual valve by little Larry's. All copper air lines.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Well, in a small twist of fate, it looks like I will have a little input on this build as Matt and work at the same plant. He trailered the cab to my shop Saturday and we have been spending a little time working on filling some rust areas in the cab. I'll let him do the picture posting. After replacing the engine in the '46 it's nice to work on someone else's project for a change and just enjoy driving mine.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
looks good. do you have plan on having a cross brace across the step notch? to me, it seems like it would flex the frame in opposite directions when you air them up if you don't have a brace.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
You are correct frame would flex a good bit without some kind of support. I got a little spray happy and went ahead and painted before I was finished with the rear suspension. I will have some pictures soon of the finished product. And Mr. Pinkerton has been kind enough to show a young dog some welding tricks. It's nice to have someone whom has experienced a few builds give some pointers. And his builds are cool to be around for inspiration! Here are a few pics of the progress of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Mind you teaching is in progress.

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Mr Pinkerton and myself got one panel in today! He put the other in a few days ago while I was playing hookie! Thanks by the way. Your generosity is helping me tremendously!

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Went to the local junkyard to find a freshly placed 90's model s-10 where I took the steering column, brake booster, brake pedal assembly, and gas pedal assembly! Score!

Re: 1959 Apache Reborn
Well its been a few weeks since I have posted anything. I have since gotten a few things done with the front end getting put back together and getting the inner fenders cut to fit the drop.
