Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Hey Brian, thanks for checking out my thread. I went through yours too. Man, you have done a lot of work. Building a steering column isnt something I could have ever done. I started mine april 2014. planned on 3 months and 5g to complete. Its now almost august 2015, and almost 10g in the build and its a month or so from even going to paint. Thing I really like about this forum is that I see many other guys who started these trucks as a project, and it has taken them way longer than expected too. Im not the only one.

Scott pointed me in your direction… and I went through all the pages of your build this far…
Very cool build and thanks for detailing the hurdles...

I wish I had welding, fabrication and body working skills now but I will have them someday. This is my first frame off and I was way out of my depth when I started but I am learning as much as I can as I go so I can do it right, it is a steep learning curve to say the least. For now I just throw as much money at it as I can and hope for the best. Last edited by Xeen; 08-29-2015 at 10:33 AM. |

Brian, it was nice meeting you today. A big thank you for the frame section I needed.

I am always happy when I get a chance to meet a fellow board member and I am pleased that I had what you needed to repair your frame.

You have your can off so removing the rear trailng arm was basic, you think it could be done with the cab on?

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
I know right? I have been saving up some cash and it isn't going as fast as I would like and if it takes too much longer I'm going to hit winter and the tarps are going to have to go back on until spring again without much work accomplished this year, it's sad but it happens I guess.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
Sometimes it's good to just take a break and get some parts together. I'm itching to buy parts and don't even have another truck yet

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod
It's been awhile since I have done anything with my truck, so today I started tearing it down so I can start building back up on the new frame, the new can has been yelling for attention lately.
