62 C10 Rear End Saddle Spacing
First things first - I checked the FAQ Index, did the search, read multiple posts, etc. etc.
I have a 1962 Chevrolet C10 that has been in the works for some time and in that time I "misplaced" the notes on the original rear end saddle set up. Installed a 73 K10 3.08-1 rear without welding the saddles up until now... Time to set that up and weld the saddles and panhard bar mount. Can anyone provide me with OEM saddle spacing specifications for the original rear? Or simply measure from the backing plate to some point on the saddle and let me know. Thanks in advance! Bob |

Re: 62 C10 Rear End Saddle Spacing
I just welded the saddles on my '63 with '90 Suburban rear end. Centered the rear end in the frame, made the saddles/trailing arm/u-bolts equidistant to the axle housing ends on both sides. Admittedly, I winged it...

You also need to get the pinion angle correct.

If you figure it out let me know. I have a 77 rear end in my 62 that had brackets but they were so bad I cut them off.

Same for me. My 60 has had two different 12 bolt rear ends, a 1967 with 3.73's and the current 1965 with 3.08's and I winged it too..

Re: 62 C10 Rear End Saddle Spacing
I should still have my original rear housing if you still want the original specs. Let me know and I'll do my best to measure and post pics if you like.

Re: 62 C10 Rear End Saddle Spacing
mark the center of the original axle, take the pad measurements and angles from the original axle, then mark center of new axle and duplicate the measurements.
My friends and I do that with Jeep axle swaps and it works well. |
