Re: Where to buy white steelies and dog dish hub caps

In my excitement to show and tell, I forgot to say I got my wheels at the local tire shop, and found the hubcaps on this site.

Here's the story. I've always been a K/20 nut and have had many. In '91 I bought one out of Southern CA that was almost DeadheadNM's truck's twin. Loaded Cheyenne Super Custom Camper, same color, wheels, and more. When I joined this site I used Super-K as my user name because that's what I called that truck. I didn't use the computer much at all back them, but since I stumbled onto this site for the trucks I have loved forever, through a link, I signed up. I think that was '01 cuz that's when I finally asked my kids how to use it...because I kept seeing website addresses given in Hemmings Motor News listings, which is where I found my K2500 in my signature in '01. Then, when we got a wireless laptop and got away from dial-up I got a Hotmail account. I couldn't get on here with Super-K and my new e-mail address. I didn't know what to do so I just put in Special-K, because I always envisioned Super-K using that logo. The fact that I didn't end up with a capital "S" for special shows my computer ignorance. I didn't give a dang what it was, I just needed a name and since at that time I had three very special '72 Ks (as well as a '71 and a couple Blazers) it was a non-specific to one truck name. One thing I had no idea of is that there is a street drug with that name, which in time other members advised me of... DOH!! I have thought up many names that I'd prefer over this one, but back to the original "I don't really care" attitude I started with. I the K2500 and after 14 years it has become all the more "special"... k?
I'm still Super-K on CK5 and a couple other truck sites I signed up on, but rarely ever go on those. This is my home away from home...from home

Tim,
That is a great story.
My user name did not take much imagination.
A couple of days ago I tried to count the number of these trucks I've owned over the last forty years and couldn't do it.
As with you I have a strong passion for them.
Thank you very much for all of the energy that you put into helping all of the members on this forum. It is greatly appreciated.
Jake

Acorn's right. They're F*rd van rims. I found them on Ebay. Got them powdercoated.
I found the hubcaps on Ebay, too. I was very lucky. They were tarnished, but had no dents. They needed a lot of TLC and elbow grease.
And my Michelins are 265/75/16. Got them through Discount Tire Direct.

Thanks . I think chrome wouldn't look as nice eventhough it had them when new.
