Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
Frame is sandblasted and ready for some POR 15. We have everything for the frame so we're about to get ramped up!

Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
I'm along for the ride. Like you I have my son involved with a frame off now. He has changed his mind a few times over the past couple years on how he sees it finished. But I think we now have a pretty solid plan going forward. It's not really all about the truck building. It is about providing a common interest that allows us to continually have open communication. Along with helping develop problem solving skills. These will be life long memories made.

Yes, they are. She has everything brand new for the frame. Springs, ball joints, brake lines, etc. Every nut and bolt will be new also.

Very good job! How much of the POR15 did you use for the frame?

I bought a gallon, but have only used maybe a 1/3 of it.

Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
Halen, myself, and Lizzy (4) got out in the garage today and got all of the rear suspension bolted on. The girls did a lot of the work. I just tightened up their work.

Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
Halen's frame is on wheels and outside the garage. 4/6 static drop, C-notch, and adjustable panhard bar. All new parts and we're deciding what to do next.

Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
I know, just can't decide on a motor. I have a 250, but I'd like her to have fuel injection. I'm leaning towards a 4.3 Vortec or just going LS. I wish there was a simple way to add fuel injection on the 250.

The 5.3 Vortec is common and easy to find and is a darn good motor.

Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
We've decided to go with the 250 Inline 6. It was reportedly running before I bought it so I think we're just going to put a gasket kit on it and make it look pretty.

Re: Project "Andes" - Halen's First Truck
No, frame is done and we're still collecting parts. About to break ground on a 30x40 pole barn which will make it easier to work on it.
