Why is there a smog pump on it?

Re: '66 Survivor on CL...Portland OR
I believe that 1966 some had emissions, I think California....
found this snipit Santa Cruz and Monterey counties combined to form the Monterey County Unified Air Pollution Control District. 1967 The California Air Resources Board was created from the merging of the California Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Board and the Bureau of Air Sanitation and its Laboratory. The Mulford-Carrell Air Resources Act was signed into law by Governor Ronald Reagan. Federal Air Quality Act of 1967 was enacted. It established a framework for defining "air quality control regions" based on meteorological and topographical factors of air pollution. It allowed the State of California a waiver to set and enforce its own emissions standards for new vehicles based on California's unique need for more stringent controls. 1966 Auto tailpipe emission standards for HC and CO were adopted by the California Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Board. First of their kind in the nation.

Re: '66 Survivor on CL...Portland OR
There are drawings that show the A.I.R. pump in the Assembly manual, I did a double take the first time I saw those, and then said to myself "must be California".
I personally thought it might be underpriced if it's what they claim it to be. |

Re: '66 Survivor on CL...Portland OR
I have a 66 that had the California motor as well, I could see where the smog stuff was, it had been removed already though.

Re: '66 Survivor on CL...Portland OR
here is all the info, in case (for when) the c/l listing is gone:
Not a barn find.A garage find. This truck is unbelivable.Totally original except for the tires and under dash AM/FM radio. It is loaded with factory options. The original 283 engine still wears its blue/grey paint and runs like a watch.Backed up with powerglide automatic, power steering ,power brakes, and that rare option, factory air conditioning with air decal still in the drivers vent window.Original wood in the bed,and the bed is dent free.Original floor mat looks new,no rips or tears. The original seat looks new, showing little wear.No rust in the rockers or floor boards, cab corners, etc.Small spot of surface rust on drivers lower fender only, not all the way through.A couple of small dents in quarter panel, and the original paint is tired.A lot of patina.Original build sheet behind the seat.Original owners manual.Just drove this truck on a 400 mile road trip at freeway speeds. You can fly in and drive home without a worry. Thanks for looking.NO TEXT.
