Stand alone wire harness ,please define

Tried googling but came up with nothing. New term for me.still stuck on points & condenser type systems. How does a stand alone system compare to a factory or any other type system out there? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Re: Stand alone wire harness ,please define

It only controls the engine and trans, nothing else except maybe cruise on drive by wire engines or electric fans. No emissions wires and typically around $500 made with all new connectors and wires. Standalone is also a factory harness stripped of all the unneeded stuff. much lower cost if you like wiring. it can be very satisfying to say you did it all yourself.
