I have one from Brothers and one from the former Grumpy's Truck Parts from Phoenix, Arizona. They are not that great of quality and don't fit that good and will rub the front fenders if you get the truck in a bind where the frame has to twist. Also if you are not careful when you tighten the bumper bolts the will dent the bumper at the bolt head. The original bumpers have a lot more clearance where they wrap around the front fenders than the aftermarket and will not rub the fenders and also will not dent when tightening the bumper bolts. I have a few very straight originals that I am planning on re-chroming, I know this will be very expensive but will be worth it in the end. Last edited by 66Gilbert; 09-09-2015 at 12:07 AM. |

I got a rear step side bumper from Classic Industries. It is nice and thick and the fitment was good.

Re: best aftermarket bumpers?
I cannot remember where my front comes from, but it was a triple chromed deluxe bumper (made in Korea) and is thick, heavy and feels good.
For my rear I am fitting a new repro 67-72 unit that is half the weight an crap chrome from the get go. However, I have painted the rears of both with aluminised paint in the hope of helping them good a bit longer. Cleaning and polishing regularly, on front and rear may help a bit to prolong their looks. I think original parts, re chromed by a reputable shop, despite cost is a good option.

Re: best aftermarket bumpers?
Maybe get one custom built? I know that Tough Country often builds them custom if you ask. Hope you're able to get a good one.

Re: best aftermarket bumpers?
Good luck getting chrome done if you live in Kalifornia. I'd like a new rear bumper, too, but the low quality of some of the repro's had me thinking I'd just rechrome. Doesn't seem to be an option here anymore. If I'm wrong please let me know.
