Demensions of Cab Floors - Dynamat
I'm thinking about Dynamatting the entire floor of the cab in my truck. Probably as much of the firewall as I can also. Can anyone tell me the demensions of the cab floor with out the seats in it? Ruff demensions are fine.
Anyone already done this? Any ideas for or against? Thanks!

I insulated my cab last year. Learned a little, too!
#1 - Dynamat (and most of the available clones - Cascade, BrownBread, etc.) are not cheap! (See #2) Lots of "car audio" web sites carry this stuff; you can also get a spray-on sound insulator. #2 - You do not have to cover every square inch to have good sound dampening. I used Cascade VB3.5 [NFI](a neoprene/lead septum/neoprene sandwich) to cover the firewall/front hump for both sound and thermal insulation. This stuff is very heavy (mass loaded I think is the term) and is sort of like that blanket the dentist covers you with when you get X-rays. Then went with the plain old plastic sticky sheet stuff (VB-2, I think) for the front floor area, kick panels, ceiling, inside the doors and the back of the cab where the gas tank was. I generally just gutted the interior, then started tapping any metal surface. If it rang or buzzed or had noticable vibration, I covered it. Under the seats, I only used thin strips in select areas. Between the two types of insulator (16sf VB-3.5, 48sf VB2) I still "invested" over $350. #3 - There's a few board members who do/did this professionally so they know more than I do, hope they chime in here! #4 - Very Rough dimensions: firewall 5 square feet, footwell 5sf, center hump 3sf, ceiling 6sf, kicks 3sf, floor 12 sf, rear 14sf, doors 4sf each. #5 - Yes, I'm very happy with the results. Now if I could only get those vent windows to stop whistleing!!! (Yup, all new rubber, too.) #6 - did somebody say 20s???? Here's what I got.....

When you do the cab with dynamat, brown bread or whatever do you eliminate the factory firewall insuation? (the cardboard with the hairy stuff on it)

brown bread
I just got my delivery of the Brown Bread insulation and I bought it off of Ebay. It was much cheaper than on the companies website. I paid $135 plus $25 shipping and he shipped it out the same day. They are in Canada so it took a week to get here UPS ground but it looks like it was well worth it. The product came packaged in a huge mailing tube and looks very nice. I should be installing it this weekend. The roll is 70 sf and is a bargain compared to Dynamat and most of the other that I saw. Some members posted that one of the other compeitor products on ebay took a month or more to deliver the product. Delivery on this couldn't have been better. They sent a tracking number showing it was shipped the day I paid.

i bought one of the big boxes of dynamat and a few smaller ones, but I did inside the doors, all firewall, floor and back of the cab. Yes you can still use the factory insulation too, just cut the holes for the rubber plugs.
