and last but not least went and bought some weld nuts for the firewall to be welded in place for panel mounting etc also have several along the bottom of the floorboard for the center console

Should have my hydro boost unit in this week so I can start mocking it up in place and see what needs to be done I know for sure going to need to get a longer rod assembly for it from Talon hydraulics. I managed to get my hands on the kent moore rod removal tool so I am set there just waiting. Came to find out the vacuum booster did not have nearly a big enough master cylinder for the 4 wheel 3/4 discs. the factory ones use a master that is 1.47 inches versus the older disc/drum 7/8 lol. so perusing gm parts diagrams to assemble all the parts that work on that particular disc brake setup since apparently the 4 wheel 2008 discs use 1/4 inch lines front and rear of the trucks. Interestingly enough lol gm makes a factory vacuum booster with an attachable vacuum pump for those running low vacuum cam shafts . Also in the 2005-2008 range some of the 1 ton trucks came with an antilock brake delete kit and use a traditional proportioning valve which I will be ordering here soon for my setup.

Well started a few more things this last week lol..... hydroboost unit came in from my dallas friend at a dealership that makes inventory his boss says aint needed on inventory disappear lol...... Started working on cutting the mounting plate to fir the firewall holes for the factory master cylinder mount and clear the firewall steering brace. Twas a bloody booger getting that dammed nut off without a vice lol but I prevailed lol. Will have to make a couple of small spacer panels for the unit and cut and tap the booster push rod once I get a 1915 year model vice from a friend of mine at work. Also this last week sent the truck to body shop to have the cab worked over and cleaned up. He got started on it last night but the daytime heat out here has slowed him down just alil bit lol. He and I talked for a bit and when I mentioned having to redo all the seam sealer on the exterior of the cab he said he can use raptor liner to seal all of the gaps so we shall see how that goes. As it stands the interior floor, inner firewall, exterior firewall, and under floorboard are getting a smurf blue coating of raptor lining once he pulls the cab off the frame and cleans it up.

Yup I still have the plate from the one I ordered from you fir the suburban. mine had an odd bolt pattern to it plus I am going for flush mounted with a factory modified gasket .

Well the cab is officially off and he is going to start working it over in the next week or two while he is at it going to fix the front bed panel and driver side bed as well. looking forward to seeing it done. after that's finished get the cab back on and get it realigned on the frame properly.

Well while waiting on the cab and bed work to get done started working on a few other things. Been saving a for a lil bit to get my hands on a tool and friend of mine pointed my way master cool 71475 flare tool.... ooohhhh boy this thing is nice nice nice. does gm flares up to 1/2 inch, metric bubbles, and nice bonus both push lock and tpi/tbi flares as well will come in handy here soon for both smurf and when I get smurfette back in my hands. Also got the push rod cut from the hydro boost unit and planning on working to get it tapped 3/8-24 fine thread for the coupler nut here as soon as my friend hands me a free ship yard vise he dredged up on one of his lumber collecting expeditions lol. This guy gets all kinds of stuff while scouring for lumber for projects he works on eg: 1932 ford roadster convertible paid to haul it off the people property from their old barn now in his garage getting a lil tweaking and cleaning.

Also in the process of waiting decided to start getting the new oak bed wood finished as well. the underside is now stained and sealed. so hopefully will last quite some time before needing any attention again. currently hunting some clear sealing epozy for the topside of the bed looking at a few leads a friend suggested now. I also finally gave in an ordered some fender emblems for the truck and I think they are going to look sweet once placed properly hehehehehehe!!!!

My body guy sent me some pictures of the work he is doing to my floorboard and cab very happy with how its coming out. he was able to lift the rear section of the transmission hump 1/4 inch to give me a little extra clearance on the allison transmission. He also start making a replacement piece for a damaged section of door seal rail on the driverside.
After it gets done got to take a break on it for a bit to finish some other projects that got dropped off with me and gather the remaining parts to get him put together here soon. then tuning aligment driveline and should be driving this coming spring

Well thinking about all the trucks this guy had in his yard I decided crap I had better go back and take another look at the suburban and several other trucks lol..... Got a couple more parts from the burb a complete left and right set of sun visors and a rear barn door lamp housing for the license plate all for 35$ was not complaining. Applied a lil adhesive remover to one of the visors to remove the tape?? whatever that was stuck to it then a lil armor all work and dammed they look good. Both have full range of travel very happy with how they are turning out. When the smurf gets back from the body shop going to be installing the drivers side one in first since I have to drill out the passenger side roof panel for the other one will come back to that in time like many half or barely started projects lol..

just got back from vacation last night to a part I ordered a few days ago.... Found mercruiser has a nice looking engine cover for the 8.1 engines so I snagged up one to put on my engine just waiting on the hardware to come in for it. Didn't have enough hood clearance for the former Mercedes air cleaner to work properly so going another route lol. On the cover going to shave off the mercruiser logos with a nice 1/4 inch right angle air tool and makes some abs cover panels and glue them in place when ready. Also the 8.1 vortec Allison badges look nice on the wings. Once the logos are removed going to be huntin a gmc tailgate emblem to put on the front piece so it will all come together

Did a lil more work over last few days to the engine cover and its coming along nicely still have to removed the mercruiser emblem in the middle of the cover but all in good time I got the mercruiser logo shaved off and the cover place is in place just waiting for the abs glue to cure and that will be done and ready for a gmc or vortec decal still looking at which will work better there

Found another junkyard with a gold mine truck hehe..... got a set of gmc custom emblems from the truck, then a week later went back and got a factory 65-67 am radio, a few knobs etc radio/speaker support mounting plate, stewart warner amp meter (not sure how to test to see if works)..... Also having to change the gear ratio in my axle to better suit the bbc 8.1 and Allison needing to drop the 3.73 gearing to make it happy from the 4.56. in the past got talked into a Detroit no spin diff when rebuilding my dana 60 not quite satisfied with it so started hunting for a power lock diff assembly lol. Awhile back I picked up a replacement axle since my original dana spindle surfaces are hammered due to a bearing welding it self in place :/ ..... Bought a 69 dana leaf spring axle from an ole boy for 100$...... Started hunting up power locks which are difficult to find..... well last night I spun the brake hubs on the 69 dana 60 thinking hmmm never pulled the cover to check what was in it lol and lo n behold a 3.54 gear set and power lock assembly in the axle lol. talk about a nice find two problems solved in one lol..... so no to find a dana/spicer 3.73 gear set and get it to the rebuild shop for a check out and refreshening....
On another note got curious and hooked up that old gmc am radio to power and a speaker set and by dammed the thing works!!!!

Well idling the time away waiting for the cab to get finished and raptor lined smurf blue did get a few pics of the started body work on the exterior firewall its coming along very nicely cant wait to see it finished. My body guy said due to the delay he has had in getting it done he has offered to paint the rest of the truck for 1000$ plus whatever paint and materials cost!!!
HE also has the floor section raised 1/4 inch to help clear the rear of the Allison transmission still alittle more work to go there since he has to smooth out the underside of the raised area so it looks smooth.

So pumped ready for it to be home so I can start putting him back together for the umpteenth time rotflmao

I also stared getting the front cover panels of the terrain center console covered and ready for install still have to cut out the speaker holes in the vinyl covering but they are turning out nicely. Ended up sticking to using 3m weatherstrip adhesive since it seems to work best out of all the adhesives I have tried. Hit it with a heat gun for a few seconds and ready to bond to the abs and vinyl fabric.

Been working a lot of late to pay for the body work and paint so have not got a lot accomplished on the various projects going around lol. I am working currently on getting rid of the old head light adjuster plastic assemblies and have a new set on order from a corvette restoration supplier at this time. Also waiting on a free set of dana 3.73 gears to come in then I can get the dana 60 over to the shop for rebuilding.

Welp body work and raptor lining went from ahh lets just do that too a full blast and paint job so its gonna be in the body shop for another couple of months while we get everything lined out lol. On another note UPS and fedex are going to know my house by memory in the next couple weeks. MAnaged to put together a complete front clip stainless arp bolt/billet fender washer kit, mar-k chain less tail gate, brake p roportioning valve, and quite a few other things on this check today . got another vehicle in the repair shop so couldn't spend the entire check on smurf :/ but its getting there next payday a huge chunk is going to body shop and the sand blasting place so they can get all the body panels cleaned up for straightening and paint.
