Should have "Classic Heartbeat's" exclusive 67-70 Gas Filler Grommet prototypes soon!

Well I have decided to move forward on our exclusive 67-70 2" gas filler grommets. Like our 71/72, 1 1/2" grommets they will come with a 5 year warrantee against cracking, fading or otherwise degrading in any way. I started this process a long time ago, but decided to shelf it due to the poor sales of our 71/72s. The big catalog companies have yet to come on board with our 1 1/2" grommets because they are more expensive than the cheap crap on the market today. (They would rather buy cheap than quality) If you are tired of the crappy ones that you have purchased from the big guys then complain to them about it and maybe they will some day do something about it. Tell them you know that there is better out there. The price will come in the same as our 71/72s at $9.95 ea. That is about $3.95 more to get a product that you shouldn't ever have to worry about again. WES

Keep us updated as to when we can order one, or expect to be able to receive one. My tank is out now but needs to go back in soon. I'd rather not take it back out in a few years due to deteriorated material. $4 more than the other replacements is a no brainer.

I'll be looking forward to its arrival! My "new" grommet isn't so new looking or well fitting.

I will certainly be picking up a couple of these for my '70 when they are available. Thanks for offering a quality product so we aren't stuck with a crappy cheap part. I for one don't mind paying more for a quality part.

I have a 72. What is this part - the grommet in the cap, or the sleeve around the filler next where it meets the cab?

So... what's the difference between 67-70 & 71/72, is the filler neck diameter different?

I'm assuming so... something I never knew.

Same here. I have a 70 cab, there is an air gap between part of the grommet and the neck of the tank.
Now I'm wondering if I have the wrong grommet.

Around 70-71 GM had to start putting emission on some trucks (California - I think it was an evap tank/charcoal canister) so maybe they had to change the filler neck size?

Just seems odd it would be different though?

Re: Should have "Classic Heartbeat's" exclusive 67-70 Gas Filler Grommet prototypes s

It is the tanks themselves. The 71/72 has an 1 1/2" filler neck and the 67-70s have a 2" neck. If you want to order one or more of the 1 1/2" grommets then you can call me 360-570-1860 and I would be happy to take your order. 9:00 am till 6:00 pm Monday thru Saturday. Except today I am closing early to watch the Seahawks game... lol WES

Remember these trucks are 40 years old. Many tanks have been probably switched. A 70 could have a tank out of a 71/72.. You shouldn't see a gap around the filler. WES

Wes, simple question here. Is this grommet the one you see on the outside of the truck under the gas cap?

The grommet is the one that seals the gas filler neck where it passes through the cab. The 67-70, 2" grommets are not here yet, just the 71/72, 1 1/2". WES

Wes, do you have any idea when the 69-70 fuel neck grommets will be available? I need one, and a few other things from you. Would like to just place a single order. Thanks!

count me in for a 72 and three of the 68's when they get here.

I bought one for a 63 from another vendor, after 3 months it looked worse than the 50 year old one I removed. too much clay in the rubber compound.

Wes's grommets are the best. After buying one of the cheap Chinese ones, it literally disintegrated within a few months. Bought one from Wes, and it has been perfect for 3 years.
