The unthinkable happened - was rescued by a FORD!
Well, it's true! The unimaginable happened yesterday, I got my truck stuck in the mud, and was pulled out by a FORD!
What had happened was my wife is due to give birth any day now, and one of the old wive's tales is that you go out and drive on a bumpy road to help labour come along. Well, we found some nice bumps in a few snowed up empty dirt lots. Not being able to leave it at that, I had to find bigger and better bumpy places, so I headed to the newest part of town, where empty lots are being sold to new businesses. I stopped at the entrance to one such lot, said to myself - I'M GOING TO GET STUCK! Do you think I listened to that inner voice? Bingo - I went in, and got stuck! LMFAO! The mud was unlike any I've ever seen! It was so sticky, almost like bread dough! It made my rear wheels smooth as glass. Well, I was sitting there spinning my tires, getting deeper and deeper, tried putting wood planks under the tires with no luck. Anyway, I see this truck go flying by, and all of a sudden stops near the entrance. I thought - must be some bugger coming by to laugh at me being stuck! The guy turned into the lot, and started coming towards me. Just a young fellow, who happened to be up in the next empty lot playing in the mud! So this guy tries to help - but he has a little Chev pickup with a 2.8L engine - vs my 5000lb turd! He had the 4WD but trying to haul my iron block of a truck was almost pointless as his tires spun at every attempt. We tried just about everything, with using a come-along as the last chance, and all of a sudden, this HUGE brand new Ford F350 stops near the road. I for surely thought this dude stopped by to laugh, as we all know how most people treat the $60,000 pickups with DVD and leather seats these days - pavement only! Well, the guy comes in a bit - looks around, and then asks if we need help! We hook up the chain to the front tow hook, and he pulled my truck out like it was a friggin shopping cart!!!! Pulled the truck right outta the deep ruts that I dug out with my tires. The guy even pulled my truck sideways, to line it up with the road so I could get out! The F350 dude had his little boy in the truck, and was happier than a pig in mud about what his daddy's truck was doing, it was cute! Anyway - the moral of the story is - be careful about the mud, looks can be decieving, there are still nice people out there, and 4WD is a nice thing to have!!! LMAO! Sorry for long story.

I honestly don't hate Fords, I was just teasing about knocking them. Hey, it worked in this case so I can't complain!

ford vs. chevy
I've caught grief from my friends for years about having fords for my tow vehicles. Back when I bought my first diesel tow vehicle, GM still used the lovely and pathetic 6.5 and the only game in town was really the Powerstroke. I bought one used and loved it. When I went to trade it for a newer used one, with an auto tranny, i got another Ford. I would love to have a new Duramax, but they are just too much money. I can't afford a new one anyway, but I still cannot believe that for $48K you can get a fully loaded Duramax and it still has steel wheels on it. It's pretty stupid if you ask me.

id have to be seriously stuck to be pulled out by a ford :p but then again i have 3/4 ton 4x4s... lol
67dragtruck-- what is so bad about the 6.5? have you ever used one? we have one and i absolutly love it.... its not wrapped up in a ford body, and its not obnoxious like cummins

i didnt read your reply untill after i posted blue beard--- but ive pulled out 3 good ones with my 89 K2500... first was a 97ish tahoe that went off the hill in front of our house... hooked up 60 ft of log chain and pulled her up the hill and then up my drive (another hill) the one she went off was about a 45 degree grade...
second one was a 2000 dodge 1 ton dually, 4x4, diesel 6 speed, hooked to a loaded 30 ft cattle trailer... had to pull all of that out together third was my dads dually, 94 K3500, diesel 5 speed, 4x4, dually, hooked to a loaded 16 ft cattle trailer edited for typos

I pulled the F**RD Cab over, tandom axle semi truck out of the hole the dozer had cleared out for my house to set in. He couldn't climb out once he relieced my house and just sat there spinning his wheels. I backed my Blazer up to it, turned my hubs in, then walked around the back of my truck to hook up a chain from me to him. I got back in my truck and shifted the transfer case into low lock and comenced to pulling him out.... Didn't even spin a wheel!!! The funny part was, my best freind that is a F**RD fan thought he was going to pull a practical joke on me. While I was hooking the chain up, he was turning my hubs back out!! He wanted to pull the truck out himself with his 3/4 ton 4X4 F**RD, and laugh like an SOB that my Chevy couldn't do it!!! LOL Only the joke was on him, because I pulled the F**RD Semi out in two wheel drive!! ROFLMAO!!! WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

last time i got stuck i had a Peterbuilt pull me out cause i was in quick sand and i was trespassing, that sucked

In 1995 I had a 1986 F-150 2WD that was stuck in front of a cotton gin in Marks MS. This dude in a 2WD 71-71 Chevy shortbed 4X4 came along. He pulled my truck out, and when I went for my pocket to make payment, he said "hey, no money necessary, just me being able to brag about how my Chevy pulled your Ford out of the mud is payment enough". I was so embarrased, I wish the #ord was still stuck today.

Few years back when I had sold my 1955 Dodge 1/2 swb stepside, I had to pull it out of the garage with my '62 C10 cause the brake pads froze to the brake drums. 6 people couldn't budge that truck, but as soon as I took off in my '62, that Dodge moved out of the garage very fast.
Last month when the rear U-joint went in my driveline in the '62, I had to have it towed home by a ford tow truck. David

I don't remember the year but it was still a St. Paul built F-truck (the only build Rangers there now). It was a 4wd F250. Black. Nice looking truck. The kid goes and gets his F250 stuck real good. By the time we figure out he isn't following us anymore we had some backtracking to do to find him. (You youngsters prolly don't remember a time without cell phones) We found him trying to get himself unstuck by rocking back and forth. He isn't going anywhere. The kid driving the truck I was in said, "I can't resist", sticks his transfer case in 4-lo and proceeds to drive circles in the snow around the stuck F-truck. Stupid because if we got stuck there was nobody around to pull us out but we didn't get stuck, pulled him out after a few circles, and went on our merry way. Which of course moves it from stupid to one of the funniest things I've ever seen in the Ford vs. Chevy arguement. And that isn't a tall story. It really happened.

Last week an older Mack tandem axle dump loaded with gravel dropped a driveshaft a couple of cars in front of me. Sat there for a while and finally went up to see what was going on. I asked the driver if he wanted me to try to pull him about 150 ft up the road to an empty lot. Well I drove on the sidewalk to get in front of him and hooked up this big a$$ chain that he had and stuck my truck in 4-lo. Uh forgot to lock in the fronts but it didn't matter because it was on asphalt. Just started slow and got him into the lot.

Well, I like Fords and I say it proudly. I've got a '57 effie that I rodstorated and a '70 Boss 302. I've got a brother who was an engineer with Ford in Detroit for about 34 years. I also like the Bow Ties. Enjoy them all is what I say.
